A collection of paintings by Clare Owen-Maynard
This exhibition represents of a body of work by the artist Clare Owen-Maynard who lives near the Mawddach estuary near Abermaw/Barmouth and Dolgellau. The inspiration came initially from the point of the old signal box bird observatory on the estuary itself, many of the drawings were done in situ. Later in the project, paintings were made of the environ which leads the tides in and out of the sea to estuary and then to inland rivers, often described in coastal terms as the inter-tidal zones.
The paintings reflect a closeness to the waters moods and movements throughout the seasons.
A short residency at the Conwy bird reserve coincided with the project to finally reference the two estuaries, capturing early morning light and some discreet bird life.
