Edie is a bitter woman in her eighties, especially when, following her domineering husband’s death, Edie’s daughter starts making plans for her mother to move to a retirement home. But when Edie chances upon an old rucksack that sparks memories of her father, and a promised trip they never managed to take, she is inspired to dust off her camping gear and head to Scotland to attempt to climb mount Suilven. Ill-prepared for the climb that lies ahead, she falls in with local equipment shop owner and guide Johnny who agrees to help her make the climb, little realising that she will genuinely go through with it.
