Synopsis

Based on the Booker shortlisted book of the same name comes a story about a love of books.

It’s 1959, and Florence Green (Emily Mortimer), a free-spirited widow, wants to open the first bookshop in Harborough, a sleepy seaside town in Suffolk. The new bookshop causes a mini social revolution, which with it brings the hostility of local aristocrat Mrs. Gamart (Patricia Clarkson) who jealously guards the local arts scene. A battle for the property ensues and a local book loving recluse (Bill Nighy) becomes one of Florence’s few allies.
