Dear Wyeside Customers,
We hope you have all stayed safe and well during lockdown. We know we’ve been quiet, but rest assured we’re still here. Most of our staff are currently on furlough, with just a few of our admin team and Board members keeping Wyeside running.
The Welsh government has announced that cinemas can reopen from the end of July. However, after much consideration, we have made the decision to remain closed for the time being. This is first and foremost to ensure the safety of our community. Due to lockdown, there are not many new films available at the moment, and live shows are not likely to happen for many months yet. We have decided that it would be better to wait until we have a variety of events to offer you, and until we are confident that we can reopen safely, both for you and us.
For now, we thought we would let you know a few things that have been happening in the background and how we’re trying to improve Wyeside for when we re-open.
We have had the first payment through from our Go Fund Me Campaign to help with the flood damage. We have not been able to put it to use yet due to lockdown, but we have a shopping list ready to replace all the damaged equipment. We’d like to thank everybody who supported us after Storm Dennis, whether it was by donating, sending a kind message or rolling your sleeves up and helping us clean. We were overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness. If you’d like to donate there’s still time, just follow the link here.
We also will be making an announcement soon about an exciting project for Wyeside to help improve your customer experience. Watch this space!
It will be a long road ahead for us all as we start to come out of lockdown. Whilst we won’t be opening soon, we are working towards doing this safely for everyone, our customers, staff and volunteers. We look forward to seeing you all again.
